Mother's Day Jewel

Today is a mother's day card for my big sis.   I was inspired by a card that I saw in one of the magazines and then I found the gem broach brads at Joanns.   They are from the House of Three, Pink Paislee and it's all one piece so it was easy to work with.

The card was cut from Birthday Bash at 6 1/4", using the card/tag function of the porcupine and Core'dinations paper.  The top layer was cut using the pink glittered sheet from the new DCWV Royal Garden solid coordinates 4 1/2 x 6 1/2" stack.  I inked the edges of the pink layer.

Once I got started I got inspiration from the old flapper girls, which my sister and I were both for Halloween when we were growing up.   I used black glitter ribbon from Recollections and then some small solid colored feathers and the broach to give it the look of a flapper's headband.

I printed the sentiment on the front and then inked the paper and corner punched with a Fiskar's corner punch.   On the inside, I cut the layer again but, at 2 1/2" and then stamped a sentiment on it, punched out slots at each end and then ran a scrap piece of that pink glitter paper through it and trimmed the edges.   I love how it turned out and I hope she does as well.

Birthday for Gram

So, I saw someone do the pleated tissue paper on a card and I decided I needed to try it.  Flaunt It Fridays is doing a challenge using Cindy Loo (one of my favorites) so, I decided on this flower.   I didn't cut all of the layers as I decided to change it up a little.  I cut in green and blue and then the pale yellow is DCWV glitter paper.
The mat paper is DCWV Nana's Nursery ~ the sentiment is from Fiskar's, mounted and using a Fiskar's corner punch ~ the ribbon is from Martha Stewart Crafts ~ and the pleating at the bottom is my first tissue paper attempt!

Feeling Like Summer

So, it is still cold here in Ohio and I am daydreaming about summer more.   I decided to change my blog look and I think this Red White and Blue Fireworks design is awesome!  As a side note, I haven't been around or posting much lately because my husband and I are working on building a house.   Part of that includes getting our current house ready for sale and finishing up some projects and then making all the contacts and decisions for the new house so it's been VERY busy lately.  We're also trying to do this while taking very little vacation so that we can save our time off for when we move.   I love reading everyone's blog's and looking at your projects and I am going to try to keep uplading but, it's won't be as often.   Thank you all so much for your understanding and support!!!  NOw let's get to spring!
