Feel Better

So, my grandma just recently had a knee replacement surgery and I sent her this card.   I used the Bird from Everyday Pop Up Cards and cut it at 3 1/4".   I used paper from My Mind's Eye Indie Chic 'Nutmeg' collection to cut the bird and craft paper for the card.   I embossed the card with the Sizzex Paisley folder and added a ribbon from Making Memories.

The sentiment on the outside is Fiskars and on the inside is Studio G. 

Happy Birthday with Damask Negatives

If you didn't already know, I LOVE the Damask cartridge.   LOVE.   It's an absolute go to when you have an occasion that you can't decide on what to make.   Another reason is that you can almost always use the negative cuts for another card.  

For this particular card, I had cut the silhouette of #16 at 4 1/2", for yesterday's post.  I used the yellow sheet from which the shadow was cut for my first card and then mounted green behind it and then the brown negative cuts inside the yellow shadow cut.   

I used Basic Gray Hello Luscious paper and then a Fiskar's stamp on the corners of the card.   The stamp is Studio G.

The latest BD Flourish

Today's card is a pretty Birthday card for a dear friend that I used to work with.   The Damask is #16 from Damask Decor, cut at 4 1/2" using the silhouette function.   The background paper is My Mind's Eye Lost & Found, Breeze collection and the sentiments are from Studio G.

Birthday Elegance

  I am really into the Damask/Elegant look right now .
This was one that I used my Design Studio for.  I welded the rectangle from George & Basic Shapes to the Filagre shadow from Cindy Loo and then cut it in black.  Fortunately I have some large black paper because I cut it for a 5x7 card so it was a little less than 14" long. 

I cut the main filagre cut out using the DCWV metalics stack, in a shimmery aqua color and added pearls and black gems.  The seniment was cut from a Colorbok set and mounted on alternating pearl and aqua mounted paper that were border punched with the EK Success scallop border punch and then black gems added.

On the inside, I added a cream color pearl paper to serve as a good background for the front filagre and then used the border punch on a piece of black paper.   The sentiment is a Scrappy Cat stamp and the ribbon is from Michael's.

Lovely Lighthouse

I just love today's card.   I am really drawn to all things nautical and this one is no different.   I started with the flocked damask paper from My Mind's Eye Lush collection.  The card is a 5x7 so I cut the frame from the Stand and Salute cartridge at 7" (perfect fit) using some lightly glittered red paper.   I punched a hole in the top of the anchor and ran yarn through it and up both side of the frame. 

The lighthouse is cut at 6 1/2" from Wall Decor and More, using pearl paper and navy for the blackout.   I didn't like the way the window openings looked with the damask paper so I added some strips of yellow paper to the back of the lighthouse.  

I pop dotted the frame and the lighthouse to shadow off the damask and added a Fiskar's sentiment.

On the inside, I added a Happy Birthday sentiment and some of the negative cuts from the lighthouse.  

Birthday Flourish

This birthday card was cut from Paper Lace, HapyBdy1, the Lace 1 cut, at 5".   Pretty simple and I didn't add anything to it, just mounted the cut onto a round card.  It turned out really pretty for a quick card.

Diaper Cakes!!

For the same shower as the Jungle Centerpieces were made, I also made these diaper cakes.

Jungle Centerpiece

I'm not sure why I hadn't posted this one but, these were the centerpieces that my little sis and I made last year for a baby shower for our cousin!   We thought they turned out wonderfully and so did the guests!  Animals are from Create a Critter:  Giraffe's at 7" and 10", each cut twice with the second cut being done in reverse so that each animals is double sided.  In between the two giraffe layers, there are short pieces of brown pipe cleaners glued to the giraffe's legs and then poked through the cardboard base and taped to under side of the base, to make the giraffe's free standing.  The Monkey's cut at 3" and 4 3/4". 

The rolled 'bark' on the trees was the most work, my little sis's idea!  The palm trees are paper towels rolls covered with various brown & tan colored oval shapes, cut using an EK success oval punch and then rolled with pens and glued to the paper towel roll.   The palms were cut from Dinosaur Tracks at 10 1/2" and then each palm cut and pop dotted on top of the 'tree'.

The grass was fringed using Martha Stewart Crafts fringe scissors.  The larger monkey was hung from natural colored raffia ribbon that was taped onto each tree before the palms were added to the top.  We made several different variations so I will post those pictures as well.

Celebrate with Flowers

I'm on a kick with the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge lately!  For this one, I used only the Flower 6 cut at 3 1/2", 3", and 2 3/4".   The center of the top flower was cut using a 1" punch from Martha Stewart Crafts and the leaves were cut by hand, using some fancy scissors.  

The strips of paper behind the flower were cut from Ribbons and Rosette's, the bracket cut, using the 1x6 border function, 3 times, and then the edges inked to show them off better.   The stamped sentiment is from Studio G ; the pearls are 'grass' colored from Core'Dinations; and the green and white twine.   All of the paper was from DCWV Flower Song stack.

I added some leftover strips on the inside and another Studio G stamp!

Upcycle Flower

I have to say that I really love how this card turned out.   I used the Cosmo Cricket Upcycle paper stack and Mother's Day Bouquet to cut the flower.   The Flower cuts are #21 at 3 3/4" & 3 1/2" and then #23 at 3 1/4" and #14 at 2".   I added a silver American Crafts brad to the center and some hand cut leaves that I used fancy scissors and ink to make cute.   I also embossed the leaves and parts of the flowers with Cuttlebug & Sizzex folders to give some texture.   The sentiment on the outside is Studio G and the inside is Fiskars.

So Stinkin' Happy

Today I have a Birthday card using the phrase function of the Birthday Bash cartridge.   This is the skunk, cut at 2 1/4", with the layers.   I snazzed it up a little with some faux stitching done by hand with a Signode white gel pen, some google eyes and some diamond & Black stickles on his tail.   I sewed on three black buttons and corner punched with a Uchida punch.   The mat paper is from DCWV Celebrations stack.

Gator in the Grass Published in February 2012 Cricut Magazine

Somehow I never posted this BUT, this is card was published in the February 2012 Cricut magazine under the Cute Critters section.   I cut the Gator at 2 1/2" from the Birthday Bash cartridge, with the layers which are a bit tedious but, super cute when it's done.  The, I decided, before I added the layers, to emboss him with the snakeskin folder from cuttlebug.   As you can see though, he's about 9" long and the folder is only 5".   So, I did half and then flipped it and did the other half and you couldn't even tell where the two met!  I added the layers and some google eyes and wallah!  

So, then I had to decide on a mat paper for my card.   I ended with this embossed sheet from the DCWV Letterpress stack.  It's a cross hatch pattern in green and light blue.   I added the cut grass across the top that I cut using Martha Stewart fringe scissors and then hacked at it so it looked uneven and you could see that it was grass.   I added a piece of Martha Stewart ribbon and there you have it.  It's a winner!!! 

Damask Bedroom Collage

As you can see, today I have a project that I made for our new bedroom!   I had been planning on doing this project in some capacity ever since I got the Damask Decor cartridge so, here it is!   I purchased some 11x14 frames on sale at Michael's right before Christmas.   I also bought six sheets of Recollections shiney silver 12x12 cardstock and Recollections dark purple 12x12 cardstock.

Using Damask Decor cartridge, I cut Damask 14, 15, 20, 37 and 33 at 7 3/4" and Damask 36 at 7 1/4".

I mounted the purple Damask cuts to the silver cardstock using ATG tape and Scotch Quick Dry Glue and then inserted each one in a frame.

Teacher Appreciation Card

This is my last post for Teacher stuff.   The school year is now over.  :(  This was my greeting card that I gave to my son's teacher with a small gift card, on the last day of teacher appreciation week.  

I used the same DCWV Stack 6 paper that I had used in making the drink carrier and then some number border tape from Vintage Street Market, taped onto a solid red strip and added vertically.   The books and apple are one cut from the Hello Kitty Greetings and Salutations cartridge, cut at 3 1/2" , with the layers.

I hand cut the frame that I stamped with a sentiment form Stamps Happen 'School Days' set.

On the inside, I added more Vintage Street Market border tape and an Inkadinkado sentiment.

Teacher Thanks!

Not only is it the end of the school year but, my son's FABULOUS 1st Grade Teacher is retiring and we wanted to give her a great send off.   I was able to collect her class photos from the past 35 years and scan them all and make an 8x11 Hardback Shutterfly book for her.   We also did a collection and got her a fabulous gift basket that included four gift cards.   With that said, you can guess that this is the card that we all signed.  

Our colors are black and red and our mascot is a Panther so I used the EK Success border punch to create my own 'punch around the page' for the red mat.   Then, I topped it with a sheet from the DCWV Grade School stack that is this cute argyle.   

The Thanks A Bunch was cut from the new Wild Card 2 cartridge (Mother's Day present), the phrase from the bananas cut at 3" and then I used the Cuttlebug Argyle folder to emboss the phrase to match the paper.

On the inside, I used a larger, paw punch from Fiskar's to punch each corner and then added a sentiment from Studio G.   She will be greatly missed by the entire school but, best of luck to her in a wonderful retirement!!!

Teacher Appreciation Drinks

I never got around to posting my Teacher Appreciation Gifts earlier in May but, I took in a 'gift' every day to my son's 1st Grade teacher.   This was on Tuesday, her favorite drink, Diet Coke.  I took it Tuesday since the carrier had room for 4 drinks....if she wanted to have one each day for the rest of the week.

The carrier is from Dairy Queen, which my husband is addicted to.   When we go, we usually go through the drive through and they give us these carriers so, I have been saving them.   This turned out to be perfect!  I used some school alphabet paper from the DCWV The Stack 6 to cover each side and the handle part of the top.  I cut the crayon from A Child's Year cartridge at 2 1/4" and wrote her name on it.   Then I cut a smaller one at 1 3/4" and stamped 'World's Greatest Teacher' on it, from a Stamps Happen stamp set.

I added a couple of other stamped items to it from the Stamps Happen set as well and then tied ribbon around the pop bottles to hold them in place.   NOTE:   Because these are heavy, I also used some tape to reinforce the bottom of the carrier and then I used glue dots to hold the bottles in place.  

First Holy Communion

I have to start by saying I am sorry for this picture.   I made the card at the last minute and then I was running out the door and remembered that I needed a picture so, I took this one with my phone. 

The cross was cut from the Easter 2010 cartridge at 3 3/4" using pinkini Bazzill paper and a shine pearl paper that I always love using.   The card base is Core'Dinations whitewash paper so, it's a dark teal on one side and a whitewashed teal on the other.  

The is the whitewash paper and a printed sheet from My Mind's Eye - Lost and Found 'Breeze' mini-stack.   I border punched both sheets with an EK Success scallop punch and them mounted them onto a Bazzill Pinkini sheet.   The sentiment on the outside and inside was printed. 

Birthday Style

Today's birthday card is for my fashionista friend!   The mat paper is from DCWV All About Girls stack.   I added a strip of paper down the center and then embossed with a plaid embossing folder.

I cut the dress at 5 1/4" using the Everyday Pop Up Cards, with the layers.   The stamp on the front is from Fiskars and the sentiment inside if from Scrappy Cat.

Lego Cake

My last lego post here is the lego cakes and cupcakes made by my sister.   The cupcakes with the legoman head were chocolate and the bricks were white.   They were a huge hit!!!
