Get Whale Soon

Today I have a get well card.   I like the idea and cuts on the Just Because Cards cartridge with this same theme and phrase but, I don't like the whale on that cartridge as much as the super cute whale on the B is for Boy Lite cartridge.   So, I started with a navy blue A2 base card and then used a blue mat that I cut across the top with a Fiskars waves border punch.   The anchor sheet is open stock from  Reminisce that is shimmery.   I bought it back in the summer and loved it but hadn't had a reason to use it yet.

The whale was cut at 3 3/4" and the phrase cut on 4" for the Just Because Cards cartridge.   I used a dark blue and light blue textured paper for the whale and then the same light blue paper for the word 'whale' on the phrase.   I inked the edges of the phrase and the whale and then pop dotted both on.   Once I thought I was done, I decided some Stickles in Waterfall would be perfect for the whale's spout and then the word 'whale'.

On the inside, I used the same blue paper and again, border punched it with the waves punch.   I added a piece of white ribbon with some glittered anchors.   I am really loving this one.   Makes me think the person who receives it will feel better just looking at that cute little whale!!

Soar!!!!!

I am soooo super proud of my cousin who, last year, decided to follow her dream of becoming a pastry chef and recently quit her career in the corporate world and is now working as an intern in a bakery in California.   I'm proud of her because I know that few people actually take that kind of leap and it's awesome.   So, this card is for her, to applaud her recent move to CA.

I decided to try a Matchbox style card on this one and the bottom I actually made to look like a little drawer, using paper from DCWV Citrus stack and a brad from Basic Gray.

The birdcage is one from the Serenade cartridge, cut in black with one of the birds inside.   I 'hung' the cage using real wire jewelry chain in black (I used this previously on a VD card).   The 'Soar' cut and frame were cut at 2" from the Lacy Labels cartridge.

I cut some extra birds as I was experimenting and the ribbon was from a Target dollar bin set.  I was sooo happy with the way this turned out and I liked the little drawer look at the bottom.   I want to try it again with ribbon to tie it closed.

Sympathy

I was able to get the Twinkle Toes Lite cartridge the day after Thanksgiving at Walmart and one of the reasons I wanted it was for the frames. LOVE the frames. I've made a similar style card using different cartridges....I think this style is my go to for Sympathy cards. I don't enjoy making them at all. The paper is from the DCWV Latte stack and the ribbon is from American Crafts.

So Grateful for You

Today is a card for a friend that I never get to make cards for....   The frame is from the Cindy Loo cartridge cut at 4".   The patterned paper in the frame is from the DCWV Whimsy stack and I was able to make the little blue bird perch nicely on the bottom of the frame.   I used green and blue stickles around the white layer and my Fiskar's Weave border punch down the side with a piece of green ribbon through it.   The stamp is from Basic Gray (I think) and I used more strips of paper inside to make coordinate with the front.
