Dear Santa, version 2

It's time to get everyone in the mood!!!   This is my second version of this Santa hat card.  I cut it at 4" from Joys of the Season and then flocked the brim of that hat and the ball.

The printed paper is from DCWV, The Christmas Stack.  I added a long narrow red strip of paper and then a green rectangle sheet that I embossed using the Sizzex 'Thin Ice' folder.  The stamped sentiment from Studio G.

 

Pin the Nose on the Reindeer & Blog Candy!

Today I have a Cricut project that is NOT a card!!  ooohhh  ahhhh!   OK, so, seriously, this is a game that I made for my son's first grade Christmas party.   Unfortunately, my son wasn't able to attend the party because he came down with pneumonia right before Christmas but, I was told that the rest of the class really enjoyed it!

I covered a large piece of chipboard with navy blue specked cardstock (two sheets that meet right under the reindeer's right antler) and then hand cut the snow drifts and glued them on.   The trees were quick cuts from Joys of the Season in various sizes and the stem of the tree trimmed off. 

The reindeer that is flying over was cut at 11 1/2" using Create a Critter with all layers, although I didn't use the nose.   For the nose, I added a strip of the 'hook' part of velcro and then glued the 'pile' side to a large red pom pom, for pin the nose on the reindeer. 

I also added some white snowflakes that were cut from a different project via a Martha Stewart Crafts border punch.  Make sure you leave a comment on my January 1 blogcandy post....only one week left!!

My Explosive Niece

Explosion Box #7 today. My niece just turned 18 so, I wanted something fun but, more grown up as well. With these boxes, you have to use smaller embellishments and cuts. The largest 'mat' is only 4x4. As a note, I bought lots of the smaller packaged cling stamps (mostly Studio G) for this project. Most of my regular sized stamps are too big to use with the pictures. I will also add that my little sis and I went out shopping this week and got many more of these small stamp sets for $.40 each at Joann's in the Christmas stuff!

The only Cricut cut on this box is the polar bear from Joys of the Season, cut at 1". I put a little piece of tape over his nose and then ran him through the Xyron machine and then used some white fun flock to make him furry. I removed the tape and used a black marker on his nose and eye and then added some Glossy Accents to his nose so that it looks wet. I really like the fun flock and the way that the edges of the polar bear look furry as well. Make sure that you do rub the fun flock into the adhesive with your finger though.

I also used many different embossing folders and punches. One of my favorites was the 'weave' border punch from Fiskars. I used it on each side of this picture and weaved the ribbon through.

Birthday Presents

Another simple card day. The printed mat is from The Paper Studio Birthday Extravaganza stack and the EK Success candles border punch. The ribbon is from a Target dollar bin set. The present on the left was cut from Joys of the Season at 2" and then embossed using the Sizzex 'stripes and scallops' folder. The present on the right is just a cut I made once I stamped the sentiment. The bow on the top was cut using the layer, shift function of the present key. On the inside, I used the same border punch and a Hero Arts stamp.

Love you a Latte

Today's card is one of many I imagine I will make for the same person. My co-worker of 15 years was recently admitted to the hospital and they found two tumors on her lung. She will soon find out the results. No matter what the results are, she has a long road ahead of her.

Today's card started with the 'Love you a Latte' saying on the Just Because Cards cartridge. It is cut from the coffee key, words creative function, cut it at 4 1/2". The mat paper is from a Colorbok stack that I got at Walmart for $5. I'm not too fond of the coffee carafe that goes with this cut so, I cut the mug from the Joys of the Season cartridge at 3 1/2" with the shadow and the steam (the layers creative function). The cartoche that I mounted the sentiment on is cut from my newly purchased Sweethearts cartridge at 2 1/4 and 2 3/4".
