Birthday Elegance

  I am really into the Damask/Elegant look right now .
This was one that I used my Design Studio for.  I welded the rectangle from George & Basic Shapes to the Filagre shadow from Cindy Loo and then cut it in black.  Fortunately I have some large black paper because I cut it for a 5x7 card so it was a little less than 14" long. 

I cut the main filagre cut out using the DCWV metalics stack, in a shimmery aqua color and added pearls and black gems.  The seniment was cut from a Colorbok set and mounted on alternating pearl and aqua mounted paper that were border punched with the EK Success scallop border punch and then black gems added.

On the inside, I added a cream color pearl paper to serve as a good background for the front filagre and then used the border punch on a piece of black paper.   The sentiment is a Scrappy Cat stamp and the ribbon is from Michael's.

Lego Sign

This certainly isn't an extremely close up picture but, pretty good.   Each letter is cut from the Birthday Bash cartridge, at 4" EXCEPT the 'I', 'Y', 'P' and 'N' that we cut at 3" because they cut larger than the 'H' for example.  They are mounted onto lego blocks in each primary color.   The blocks were made just like the blocks for the invitations, only a little larger.   I used the rectangle and cylinders from George and Basic Shapes and welded them together in Design Studio, to make them look like a lego brick.   The total size of each 'brick' was 5 3/4".  

I used my Crop-a-dile to add grommets to each 'brick' and then I roped red, yellow, blue and green curling ribbon into each letter to hang them.  

Lego Birthday Invite

My son just turned 7 and the theme for his party was Lego's.   He's completely addicted and actually got about 15 different sets that he worked on for a day and a half until he got them all completed.   Now he wants more!  Oh gosh!

So, to kick things off, this was the invite.   As you can probably guess, this is not the correct information.   I changed it for the purpose of this posting.  

I used Cricut Design Studio and the George and Basic Shapes cartridge to create the lego block.   I chose the rectangle and the cylinders on the George cartridge and widened the rectangle a little to make 4 cylinders fit.   I welded them together and then cut.   The block itself is a little smaller than 4x6.

The paper was the Lego paper from Creative Imaginations.   It says 'lego' on every little knob and they are raised.   Now, here's a little tip.   When cutting this paper, because all of those knobs are raised and are not stuck to the mat, you will get tearing if you don't use a good mat and a new blade!

I cut a solid blue piece as well and glued them together so that the back of the invite wasn't just the white of the lego paper, and then I inked the edges.

Rocket Favors

With my son's Robot/Outer Space themed party, I was trying to come up with something cute for the favors.   I considered the 3D Robots from the Robotz cartridge but, I didn't want to get in over my head.  So, I was thinking a tubed filled rocket.   I got the tubes from my mom and then covered them in scrapbook paper that had gears all over it.  I knew that I would make cone tops but, didn't know what I would do to stand them up.   When I had almost decided to lay them down, my son took some magnetic clothespins I had and put them on the bottom of one of the tubes.   A 6 year old genius!

So, I cut the top cones using the circle on George and Basic shapes, cut at 6" and then I cut them in half and glued them together.  I bought some standard clothepins and then covered them with the leftover paper from the circles that I cut.  I added the 'loot' and some yellow, orange and red plastic Easter grass tied together, hanging from the bottom, to look like flames of the rocket.   They turned out Super Cute!!!

Robot Invite

My son turns 6 this year and this is what I came up with for his invite.   I kept it a little basic because he invited his entire kindergarten class which meant I had to make like 50 invites.   I used the Robot from the Robotz cartridge and the rectangle from George and Basic Shapes and welded them together on Design Studio.  

For the layers, I only cut the mouth and stomach only and then added stickles at the joints, feet, hands and antenna. I added some google eyes and printed out the front and inside on my printer.   Walla!

Circle Snowman

Today's card I saw in the Cardmaker magazine (I think that's the one) and I thought it was super cute. I cut the circles using George & Basic Shapes at 5 1/4", 5", and 4 1/2". I used some large black sparkley brads for his eyes and some small gemstones for his mouth. The nose and arms I cut by hand and I inked the edges of each circle.

On the inside, I mounted this sentiment that I printed on my computer 'Jesus loves you Snow Much'.

Tricks or Treats??

I made this next Halloween card business size with an orange cardstock base. The mounted paper is from the DCWV 'The Haunting' stack. I decided to buy the circle punch cartridge for the Fiskars Everywhere Punch and while I was at Archiver's, I found the round clear stamps. So, I cut the circles using the everywhere punch which is 2", then I decided that I needed to cut a 1 1/2" circle (in black) using George & Basic Shapes cartridge. I stamped the Trick & Treat sentiments on yellow paper and then used a circle punch to punch it out (I think it's a 1" punch). I glued the yellow to the black and then pop dotted the black to the orange card base.

The center square sentiment is a stamp from Studio G that is stamped on yellow and then mounted on a 2x2" black square. I used a Fiskars four way corner punch on the corners and then some candy corn stickers and some striped ribbon from Hobby Lobby.

On the inside, I used a preprinted quote from Cloud 9 Designs. I pick them up at the Flower Factory. I decided to match the quote card up with the front by punching the corners and mounting it to a black mat with an orange strip of paper attached across the center. I also added a few more candy corn stickers.
