Just Because Throwback

Can I tell you that I have been eyeing this paper and this cut since I got the Paper Lace cartridge!   The paper is from American Crafts and the cut is JstBcse1, Lace 1, on the Paper Lace cartridge, cut at 3 1/2 and then a white gel pen to stitch the words "Just Because".

I used some extra strips of paper and a stamped sentiment on the inside.

Bubble Gum Buttons

Today's birthday card is the bubblegum ball machine cut from Wrap It Up, at 5".   I used this specialty 'blue ice' shimmer paper for the glass bowl of the machine and then I used the liquid epoxy on the balls that were a layer cut BUT, I also added a couple of pink buttons (inspiration from one of my daugther's shirts).  I also cut the layer for the turn handle and the bottom of the 'mouth' from a metallic silver paper.

I decided to make this one an easel style card so that cut could be displayed.   The star paper is from American Crafts and the ticket on the side is from the October Afternoon 5 & Dime cut out set.

Tying the Knot Gate Fold

A wedding card today made with the Sweethearts cartridge.   The Tie the Knot was cut at 3" with the shadow.  The mat paper is Me & My Big Ideas, the Monochromatic stack.  I decided to make this a gate fold card and then offset the frame, which I corner punched with a Fiskar's punch.  I added sheer gray ribbon under the frame and under the mat on the right side so that both pieces could be tied together.   And, on the inside, I added a Fiskar's stamped sentiment.

Tying the Knot

Wedding season is here so, I am getting prepared.   I used the Sweethearts cartridge to cut this 'Tie the Knot' phrase at 3".   The mat paper is from Me & My Big Ideas Kay Monochromatic and then a Fiskar's corner punch on the corners of the mat and the frame.   The yellow strip is embossed with the Victoria folder and then a sheer gray bow added.

Giraffe Baby Shower

My cousin recently had her baby shower and this was the card I made.   The card is business size so, I cut the giraffe from Create a Critter at 6".  I used some brown and cream colored yarns to create a mane for the giraffe as well.   The paper is from Fancy Pants Designs, Baby Mine collection.   The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and the stamp from Inkadinkadoo.  

Picking Up Speed

Today's card was the birthday card that I made for my husband.   I used the April Showers cartridge to cut just the bike at 2 1/2".   I mounted the bike on white and blue card stock that I border cut using some decorative scissors and then embossed using a Sizzex folder.   The mat paper is from TPC Studio's Spring Break stack.   I added some green twine from Martha Stewart and a printed sentiment, that I also mounted.  It says 'You're not getting older, you're just picking up speed'. 

Fire Hose Girl Scout SWAP

Hello all!  This isn't a paper project....well kind of if you count the fire hydrant but, this is a SWAPS that I made for our Girl Scout troop's trip to the Fire Station. SWAP's are Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere.   The Girl Scout troops make them when they go to special events/field trips and then they trade with other troops when they are at larger, regional events.  The idea is to make something to remember the event but, to make it as cheap as possible and recycle if you can.

For this one, this was a 'fire hose' that I made using a couple feet of white rope, some $.19 brass plumbing fittings and a blue grocery store back that I cut to look like water coming out of the hose.   I cut the Fire Hydrant's using the Create a Critter cartridge at 1" and I added the troop information on the back, used an eyelet on the top and hung them from the pin that is hot glued to the back of the rope.  We were really happy about how these turned out!

Snowcone Cool

Who doesn't love cool treats in the summertime?   This card here was cut by hand.  I cut the snow cone holder by making a triangle and then cut a circle in half.  After I cut it, I ran it through my Xyron Sticker maker and then sprinkled it with aqua colored glitter.  

All of the paper is from the DCWV Carnival stack and the border punch is from Fiskars.   I have cut the flags and stamped the top one with a Fiskars sentiment (Birthday Girl) and the bottom with a Studio G sentiment (you're cool).  The ribbon is from Michael's.

Hey Hotdog!

Sorry, I have been MIA for a couple of weeks now.   I've been busy with end of the season football stuff for my son's team and my daughter's cheer.   I've done some crafting but, no posting.  

This card is funny to me because I made it for my friend's son who was turning 5 and who I always call Hot Dog.   So, I cut the hot dog at 3" with the layers, from the Fast Food cartridge.  My base paper was from Echo Park Note to Self and then I border punched the left and right sides with the EK Success punch that looks like it was ripped from a notepad (also used inside).   I stamped the flagpole from Hero Arts and then added the printed sentiment.

The inside is border pinched with a Fiskar's sentiment and the remaining strip of paper from Echo Park.

Octopus Love

Today I have several versions of a card featuring the Octopus from Birthday Bash.   The Octopus is cut at 4" in polka dot paper and then 4 1/2" in solid so that his tentacles look like there is an underside, for all of the cards.   The cards are all 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" square but the mat paper and sentiments are different..  

The mat paper for this first card is from Studio G and the frame is from Just Because Cards, the Flower 2 frame, at 5", this is the negative from the cut, I cut it down to frame the octopus.  The sentiment is in a frame that is the same cut but, I used the cuts, cut at 1 3/4" and 2".   I added some punched hearts and a sentiment from My Pink Stamper, Lunchbox Thoughts.

The chevron printed paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle 'Splash' collection.  The sentiment is the same as above but, I added some small charcoal pearls and then a stamp from Hero Arts, down the side, in purple.

I also added the same stamp and a strip of paper to the inside of this one.

Last are the dots from Little Yellow Bicycle's Splash line.   The Scrappy Mom sentiment was stamped onto the same paper as the octopus and I added brads to the corners of the frame and a small strip of paper to the left side of the card.

Carnival Cotton Candy

Finally, the carnival is over.  I must admit it was a lot of work and a ton of planning but, it was awesome!!  Everything turned out so well! 

This card fit the theme with the Cotton Candy, cut from County Fair at 3" and then the 'cotton candy' top layer was covered with Halloween spiderweb and inked in the same hot pink color to look like real cotton candy.   

All of the papers were from the DCWV Carnival stack and I hand cut them into banner shapes.   The circle embellishment at the top was hole punched from the paper itself and then frames with bigger circles that I punched.  

The ribbon on the bottom is from American Crafts and the border punch was Martha Stewart.  

The paper inside is more from the Carnival stack but, I cut the #5 banner from Country Life and then added the Hero Arts stamped sentiment.  

Carnival Bag Tags

For the carnival, I bought polyester reusable bags and then made a tag for each child, with their name on the big top tent that I cut from Summer Vacation at 3" and then printed each of the kids' names on the printer.

Altered Cutlery Caddy

As another added touch, I decorated this cheap cutlery caddy, along with the matching plate caddy (not pictured) with some red and yellow paper and then cut the banner letters from Country Life at 3" and attached them to each other with mini brads.   I attached the cutlery one to the front and the napkins one to the back side and then used the negative letter that were left over for each of the short sides, so that people could see it from all directions.

Carnival Centerpieces

These centerpieces were so simple to make.  I started with these square containers that I had used previously for my son's Lego Birthday party.  I inserted a piece of perfectly cut foam (I get this from the recycling at the return center for my work).   A tip when cutting foam, I find the easiest way is with a bread knife!

   I cut the pinwheels by hand.   To do that, you need double sided paper cut into a square (warning that anything over 9" gets too heavy).  I used some paper from Martha Stewart Crafts.   Measure from each point, half way to the center and cut only half way.   Then fold each point in.   I used some ATG tape to hold the points down and then a brad in the center.   Since these were centerpieces, I didn't make them 'moving' pinwheels. 

They were each held up by a skewer that I wrapped with pipe cleaners.  I added some other, twisted pipe cleaners into the centerpieces and some shredded paper.

I used the strips of paper that I had left over from cutting my pinwheel paper down to 8x8 or 9x9, to cut the #5 out for the sides of the red containers.   Since this was my daughter's 5th Birthday party.   

You may notice that we also used strips of tickets to lay out on the tables as decoration and filled the small green 'bucket' containers with whole peanuts, which were a huge hit!!

Carnival Signs - Desserts

For these carnival signs, I am just going to give the details under every one.  I used real raffle tickets and some curling ribbon to snazz them up and then put eyelets in the corner of each sign, to hang them.

All of the letters were cut at different sizes from the Country Life cartridge.

The cotton candy was cut from County Fair at 11" (the biggest on 12x12 paper) and then I covered it with fake spiderweb batting that I inked in the same color.   The paper for the 'cone' is from DCWV Carnival stack.

The cupcake was cut from Hello Kitty at 7" and the paper was from DCWV Celebrations

The snow cone was hand made with DCWV Celebrations paper and then a circle cut in half and then glittered with aqua glitter.   

The Popcorn is from the County Fair cartridge at 5"

Carnival Signs - Drinks

For these carnival signs, I am just going to give the details under every one.  I used real raffle tickets and some curling ribbon to snazz them up and then put eyelets in the corner of each sign, to hang them.

All of the letters were cut at different sizes from the Country Life cartridge.

The pop can was cut from the Fast Food cartridge at 7".

The water bottle was cut from Nifty Fifties, the Coke Bottle at 8 1/4" and then trimmed down to be even and a water bottle label added.

The juice box was cut from Fast Food at 6 1/2"

The beer mug was cut from Everyday Pop Up Cards at 8 1/2"

The lemonade was cut from Just Because Cards at 7 1/2" and the top sheet was vellum to make it look frosty.

Carnival Signs - Fun Stuff

This little bird from Birthday Bash was cut at 3", it's the bird2.

The paints were cut from Wall Decor and More at 8" and then I inked the ends with different color Sharpie's and made lines all over the poster.

The camera was cut from Summer Vacation at 5"

Carnival Signs - Games

Today I have all the carnival game signs!!

This duck was cut from Wall Decor and More at 3 1/2".   I cut it in blue because my ducks were pink and blue.  ;)

Tic Tac Toe was cut my hand except an 'O' from George and basic shapes.

Ping Pong Bounce (bouncing a ping pong ball into jars of water) was made using a 1 1/2" circle punch

Carnival Signs - Food

My daughter recently turned 5 and we had a carnival at our house.   I made a ton of signs along with some other items that I am going to post this week!  

For these carnival signs, I am just going to give the details under every one.  I used real raffle tickets and some curling ribbon to snazz them up and then put eyelets in the corner of each sign, to hang them.

All of the letters were cut at different sizes from the Country Life cartridge.

The pizza is cut from Fast Food at 9" (this is the biggest on a 12x12 sheet)

The hot dog was cut at 4/ 3/4"; the mustard at 7"; and the ketchup at 6", all from the Fast Food cartridge

The pulled pork sandwich is the Burger1 cut from Fast Food at 6" with small strips of brown papers attached.

The nachos are a combination of the Nuggets tray from Fast food cut at 8 1/4" and then cut in half and 'nachos' added using a 1 1/2" circle punch.   All of the circles were inked and rolled with a pen and then the 'cheese' was cut by hand from a yellow/orange paper and I used Glossy Accents to make it shiny.

Welcome Baby Turtle

I have to admit that I had the hardest time getting a good picture of this card.   I made it for a DCWV challenge, using a sketch.   This was the first time I have ever used a sketch so, it look me a little while to come up with something 'inside the box' so to speak. 

All of the printed paper is from the DCWV Nana's Nursery, Baby Boy stack.  I started with a 4x6 card and then cut the yellow scallop from Bazzill Double Dot paper, from the Preserves cartridge.   The cut was the kumquat lid at 4 1/4" and I inked the edges in a darker color yellow.   Then I cut the aqua strip from solid card stock and used a large circle punch to invert the ends of each side.   I decided to add another piece that wasn't as wide, using the DCWV paper and then a Fiskars punch for the waves across the top.  I wrapped it with a cream colored yarn and then topped it off with the sea turtle.

The sea turtle and shell were cut from the Splish Splash cartridge.   The turtle was cut at 3" and the shell at 1".   I stamped the sentiment onto the shell, using a Studio G stamp and then pop dotted the turtle onto the card.   I was please with the results for my first ever sketch and I love that it's not a baby looking card.  

Feel Better

So, my grandma just recently had a knee replacement surgery and I sent her this card.   I used the Bird from Everyday Pop Up Cards and cut it at 3 1/4".   I used paper from My Mind's Eye Indie Chic 'Nutmeg' collection to cut the bird and craft paper for the card.   I embossed the card with the Sizzex Paisley folder and added a ribbon from Making Memories.

The sentiment on the outside is Fiskars and on the inside is Studio G. 

Happy Birthday with Damask Negatives

If you didn't already know, I LOVE the Damask cartridge.   LOVE.   It's an absolute go to when you have an occasion that you can't decide on what to make.   Another reason is that you can almost always use the negative cuts for another card.  

For this particular card, I had cut the silhouette of #16 at 4 1/2", for yesterday's post.  I used the yellow sheet from which the shadow was cut for my first card and then mounted green behind it and then the brown negative cuts inside the yellow shadow cut.   

I used Basic Gray Hello Luscious paper and then a Fiskar's stamp on the corners of the card.   The stamp is Studio G.

The latest BD Flourish

Today's card is a pretty Birthday card for a dear friend that I used to work with.   The Damask is #16 from Damask Decor, cut at 4 1/2" using the silhouette function.   The background paper is My Mind's Eye Lost & Found, Breeze collection and the sentiments are from Studio G.
